Michael Rosenbaum Offers an Update on the SMALLVILLE Animated Series Pitch with Tom Welling — GeekTyrant

Michael Rosenbaum and Tom Welling have been developing an animated Smallville sequel series for years. They’ve talked about it a few times, and Rosenbaum is now talking about it again and he’s saying, “It’s gonna take time.”

During Nashville Comic Con at panel, Rosenbaum teased the project saying: “Tom and I are working on a Smallville animated series that we’re trying to get made. It’s gonna take time.”

He continued: “But the creators of Smallville are attached, they want to be a part of it. And we, you know, when it’s the right time, we’ll pitch it.

“You know, we’re working on it and we have some loose animation that we’ve worked [on] with someone who was just awesome. It looks great. So if we can get that made, that’d be awesome.”

Rosenbaum has “a concept of what the show is” and previously said the whole cast of Smallville “would voice their own character from the show.”

It would be a shame if this series never happened because it’s something the fans would absolutely love to watch! There’s potential here for a great freakin’ animated show!

The original series starred Rosembaum as Lex Luthor, Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, Eric Johnson, Sam Jones III, Allison Mack, Annette O’Toole, John Schneider, John Glover, Jensen Ackles, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, and Callum Blue, among many others.

When talking about being known as Lex Luthor in the original series, he said: “If I’m known for that, and that’s the only thing in my life… that’s not awesome? I used to think ‘I’ve gotta do something better.”

He continued: “Rosenbaum said on Blah Blah Blah with Katee Sackhoff. ‘How are you going to be better than playing a great character like that on a great show for so many years?

“Just to be lucky enough to be on a great show and be good in something is amazing. I honestly like that that’s how I’ll be remembered. That’s the best thing ever.”

While it’s going to take some time to get this show off the ground, hopefully it doesn’t take too much time.
