Live from one of Israel’s most important remote wildlife sites, the Hula Nature Reserve (English below)
המצלמה מוקמה בשמורת החולה, של רשות הטבע והגנים, במקום בו אין כניסה לבני-אדם (פרט לפקחים) כדי לא להפר את הטבע. שמורת החולה היא שילוב ייחודי של אגמים וביצות ומהווה את אחד מבתי הגידול הלחים החשובים ביותר במזרח התיכון כולו. בית גידול זה הוא שריד אחרון מאגם החולה ומביצות החולה שיובשו בשנות ה-50 והוא מקיים מגוון רחב של עופות מים ובעלי-חיים נוספים. השמורה מזוהה במיוחד עם עופות מים נודדים וחורפים, בהם בולטים שקנאים ועגורים, השוהים בה בחודשי החורף. בשמורה קיימים גם יונקים רבים, אותם ניתן לראות ביום ובלילה, ביניהם תן זהוב, חזיר בר ונמייה.
המצלמה הותקנה ומתוחזקת על-ידי ‘קבוצת צ’רטר לחקר אקולוגית חיות-הבר’ (מכון שמיר למחקר והחוג לגיאוגרפיה ולימודי סביבה באוניברסיטת חיפה) ומומנה על-ידי תורם אנונימי
For the first ever people will be able to observe wildlife in one of Israel’s most important sites, the Hula Nature (Israel Nature and Parks Authority). The Hula nature reserve is a special combination of lake and swamps and is on the most important wetlands for wildlife in the Middle East. The reserve is remnant of the Hula Swamps that were dried up in the 1950’s. The reserve is known as an important stop over site for birds such as Eurasian cranes and Great white pelicans. There are also many mammals such as golden jackals, wild boar, Egyptian mongoose and more that frequent the reserve daily.
The camera was added and maintained by the Charter Group of Wildlife Ecology (The Shamir Research Institute and the Department of Geography and Environmental Science of the University of Haifa) and funded by a private donor. The camera was placed in full cooperation with Israel Nature and Parks Authority.
