Hugh Jackman on the Reaction to Wearing the Suit on DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Set for the First Time
After all these years X-Men fans will finally be able to watch Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in action while wearing the classic yellow and blue costume, which looks really cool!
After Logan, when Jackman “retired,” fans just accepted the fact that we would never see the actor wear the iconic costume, but now… thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, here he is wearing the suit!
While promoting the movie on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jackman revealed what it was like when he suited up for the first time on the set of the film.
He shared: “For 24 years people have been talking about it. It’s one of the first things Ryan said to me. I said I want to do it, he goes ‘We’re gonna do the yellow and blue.’
“I was like ‘Alright, I’m in.’ In my head I was like I don’t know if it’s gonna work. I just don’t know. And as soon as I put it on, he had his Deadpool suit on I had mine.
“We walked on to set, a hundred crew members have done a hundred movies, seen everything. You could hear a pin drop. It was just a hush.”
What an awesome experience that must’ve been for everyone! It’s one of those things a lot of fans wish they would’ve been able to witness.
Jackman went on to talk about one guy, who started crying when he saw him in the Wolverine suit. He said: “And it was one guy there, Billy Lawless, who’s Ryan’s hairdresser. He started to cry. His kid’s name is Logan, just so you know. And he goes ‘this is the best day of my life.”
It’s totally understandable! However, his son Logan might not appreciate that seeing Jackman in the yellow and blue suit is the “best day” rather than his birth.
Producer Wendy Jacobson previously shared her experience of what it was like when Jackman came out wearing the suit, saying: “It was one of the craziest things. It was the camera test before we started shooting, and to see both of those guys in costume together was just mind-blowing.
“But Hugh walking out in the yellow and blue, there were grown men, like, sobbing on the set. So we knew it was a very special thing.”
