Dua Lipa sits next to Marlins Man at Yankees playoff game – NBC New York

Marlins Man was levitating at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.

The famous fan, who is instantly recognizable in the stands with his bright orange Miami Marlins attire at various sporting events, was at it again for Game 3 of the ALDS between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.

However, while Marlins Man usually steals the show, he got to share the spotlight with two even bigger stars this time.

Singer Dua Lipa and her husband, actor Callum Turner, were in the Bronx for the Rays’ series-clinching win and got seated right next to Marlins Man in the second row behind home plate. All three were visible on TV cameras throughout the game, and Marlins Man confirmed his star-studded company on social media.

“So i had no idea who this couple were and they were so nice and friendly to everyone,” he wrote on X. “I told them i know sports, not music nor movies. They recently got married in june in italy i think. I wish them 50 years or more of happiness.”

Marlins Man offered more insights into his conversations with the power couple, posting that it was Dua Lipa’s first ever time at a baseball game and that she had her first hot dog.

Marlins Man, whose actual name is Laurence Leavy, is from Miami Beach, Florida, and has attended major sporting events for decades. He made his first major appearances in 2012, when he sported his iconic orange look at a Miami Heat playoff game and popped up behind home plate at Comerica Park when the San Francisco Giants won the World Series against the Detroit Tigers.

He said he used the Marlins’ bright orange gear to stand out, though he did not expect to gain national attention.

“By accident, a few years ago, I wore an orange Marlins jersey to a Heat game,” Leavy told Tom Haudricourt of The Journal Sentinel in 2014. “Everybody was wearing white but someone had stolen the (white) shirt they left on my chair (to wear). I stood out like a creamsicle. My friends liked it because they could see where I was sitting. Before, they said they couldn’t find me. Now, they can easily find me.”

Yankees manager Aaron Boone reflects on New York’s season coming to an end, the mood inside the clubhouse and his message to the team following its postseason elimination against the Tampa Bay Rays.
