Two boys suffered injuries as a result of playing with fireworks on a Brooklyn street, according to police.
The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. on Ninth Avenue and 57th Street in Sunset Park, police said. It was not immediately clear how exactly the injuries occurred, but police and fire officials said first responders were called after a report of injuries stemming from fireworks.
An 11-year-old boy suffered injuries to his chest and right hand, police said, while a 13-year-old injured his right eye. Both were taken to the hospital, though it not appear any of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening.
No arrests had yet been made, and it was not clear if any would be in connection to the boys’ injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
