New Action Clip and Poster Art For THE CROW Reboot

Lionsgate has released a new clip and poster for its upcoming reboot of The Crow, which a lot of people aren’t excited to see. Regardless of how the filmmakers try to spin it, there’s a lot of people that aren’t happy about this.

The clip features an action sequence that is clearly inspired by what we’ve seen in the John Wick franchise. It features The Crow in a brawl confined inside a car.

Director Rupert Sanders previously talked about the movie and tried to explain that it’s not just another Hollywood remake. He explained: “There’s nothing to do with Hollywood in this movie at all. it’s a very scrappy indie movie.”

He went on to tease that they wanted to make a film that was closer to creator James O’Barr’s source material. By making more of an indie-style film, the creative team was “able to remain close to the center and the darkness and the violence that’s in the graphic novel.”

The director added: “The only reason we could do that is because it’s not a studio movie.” He also said that the budget constraints made the film better: “You have to be more adept at making things more efficiently, that are emotionally resonant, and not just spectacle.”

In the film: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”

There’s been one early reaction to the film so far from Warrior screenwriter Cliff Dorfman, who said: “If hypothetically, one happened to see a screening of @TheCrow_Movie #thecrow which @Lionsgate is releasing in August, one might say, it’s horrible, it’s unwatchable, don’t waste your money, or can’t believe it’s so much worse than the original. It is. And don’t.”

This version of the movie also stars singer/actor FKA TwigsDanny Huston (30 Days of Night), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A Son), and Jordan Bolger (The Woman King).

The Crow reboot will be released in theaters on August 23rd, 2024.
