Glen Powell Says He Wants to Do a “Wild Take” on Batman; Reveals the Marvel and Star Wars Roles He Lost — GeekTyrant

Glen Powell is Hollywood’s current popular “it” actor. Ever since he appeared in Top Gun: Maverick, his acting career has skyrocketed, and he’s signing on to star in all kinds of film projects! His next big movie to be released is Twisters.

You’d think that Marvel Studios and DC Studios would be knocking on his door for future roles, but GQ has pointed out in a new profile on the actor, “Powell has no interest in playing a superhero.” He’s also not interested in “Marvel fare.”

But, if Powell did want to star in one of those movies, he would choose Batman. While taking a journalist on a tour of the Warner Bros. lot, Powell pointed out the new Superman logo on the door of James Gunn’s office.

Powell talked about David Corenswet landing the role of Clark Kent, saying he didn’t audition for the role, “But I was on the set of Twisters with [newly-anointed Clark Kent] David Corenswet when he got the call. He’s a hustler and he deserves it.”

The actor then brought up Batman, saying: “I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to Keaton.”

As of right now, Powell’s experience with DC movies is the fact that “I get my head smashed in by Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.”

Powell also revealed during the interview that he was up for the role of Captain America for Marvel Studios, but he “screwed up” his audition.

He also revealed that he came close to taking on the lead role in Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, saying: “I can joke about it now, [but] I blew that final audition.”

Powell does still have a shot with Batman as DC still hasn’t cast an actor to play the character in director Andy Muschietti’s The Brave and the Bold. Gunn has said they aren’t even close to casting.

Do you think Powell would be a good choice to take on the role of Batman in a DC film project?
