Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion, Jurassic Park) has joined the cast of Peacock’s upcoming Muhammad Ali limited series project Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. He joins Kevin Hart in the film and will take on the role of Frank Moten, “a real-life underworld kingpin coined the Black Godfather by the NY tabloids.”
The story is set in Atlanta, “following the heavyweight and criminal underground heist that introduced the world to the city that’s dubbed the Black Mecca. It’s also focused on the cop and the hustler at the center of the story. Fight Night promises to unfurl the infamous saga of an armed robbery during Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight and how it changed a city’s destiny.”
The series is set during the “night of Ali’s defeat of Jerry Quarry, which came after he was banned from boxing for refusing to enter the military draft, hundreds of guests at an after-party were robbed at gunpoint, becoming one of the largest armed robberies the country has ever seen.”
The series is being developed by director Craig Brewer, who previously collaborated with Jackson on the 2006 film Black Snake Moan.
