Ever since Deadpool 3 went back into production, photos from the set have been spreading online and revealing certain details about the film. When sharing these images, we make sure to offer a spoiler warning before getting to the photos and discussing the details of them. But, if you’re on X or TikTok, or any other social media platform, there are no spoiler warnings. You could be harmlessly scrolling through your feed when all of a sudden one of these photos pop up.
Well, Deadpool 3 star Ryan Reynolds has taken to social media to address these photos and spoilers that have been spreading, saying:
“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new DEADPOOL film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone.
“Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready. The film is built for audience joy – and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket.
“I love making this movie.”
It sure is exciting to see these images that tease what this movie is going to offer! The photographers aren’t going to stop taking these photos, though, and people on social media aren’t going to stop sharing them. It’s just the nature of the beast and this has been happening since movie websites started popping up on the Internet.
I don’t mean to downplay what Reynolds is saying because he’s politely asking people to help preserve the magic of moviemaking, but, unfortunately, the reality is people won’t stop taking these photos and fans won’t stop sharing them. It just is what it is. Even if we stop posting them, a ton of other people will continue to do so.
